Another flight and another state, Colin is becoming quite the little traveler over the past year and a half. This time we went to Chicago to meet up with some of Kate's Penn State friends. Our trip was only about a week long, but it sure was jam packed. We decided to arrive a day before the group so we could visit with Kelly, John and Grace, formerly of Monterey. Colin loved seeing and playing with Grace again. It was a short visit, but great to catch up. Off to Chicago. We had four couples and three with kids so we decided to stay at a duplex vacation rental rather than in multiple hotel rooms. It turned out to be the best choice for everyone. While in Chicago, we hit all the touristy things to do: Lincoln Park Zoo, eat deep dish pizza, shop on the Miracle Mile and see the Cubs. The baseball game was a highlight of Chicago for Matt. Not only was it Colin's first game but they got to run the bases after the game. It's not everyday you can say you ran the bases at Wrigley. Unfortunately, the camera battery died just as they got to first base so Kate wasn't able to capture the moment.
After saying goodbye to our Penn State friends, we set off to Madison to visit Andy and Mel. On the way to Madison we took a little detour to visit Matt's cousin who is expecting in July. We had a good time in Madison and enjoyed the much cooler weather visit. Last year when we visited the heat index was over 100 degrees, we melted. This visit was rather short, but we managed to check out another zoo. Colin loved riding the train and carousel.
