Colin's First Flight

Oh, how times have changed. Traveling by air use to be a very different story before Colin arrived. Our flights involved reading books and magazines, listening to podcasts and/or music, watching movies on our ipods or just plain sleeping.  Matt was really nervous leading up to our flight back to the East Coast for the holidays.  If we were out in public and Colin was getting really fussy you could just go outside of the store or restaurant.  You can't exactly do that in an airplane flying at 36,000 feet.  Would Colin cry for the entire flight across country?  Would we run out of diapers or food if our flight was delayed? How many dirty looks would we get?  Before the flight, we spoke with friends and read on-line for lots of tips including buying your neighbors drinks.  Matt's fears were for nothing and the flight was pretty good.  We only had a few moments when Colin became upset, most likely due to ear pain from changing altitude. A little bit of sucking seemed to help and calm him down. If you want to win over your seat neighbor we highly recommend buying them a drink, it worked for us.  We joked it also helped to have toddlers on the flight because they cry much louder than a 3.5 month old.
